YAZOO COUNTY — A woman was taken into custody early Monday after deputies say she fled from law enforcement and struck two patrol vehicles on the grounds of a correctional facility in Yazoo County.

The incident began around 3 a.m. when deputies encountered a white vehicle whose driver had reportedly called a tow truck driver in Madison County to change a tire. After the tow truck driver installed the tire, the driver of the vehicle allegedly left the scene without paying for the service.

The tow truck driver later contacted Yazoo County dispatch after the vehicle crossed into Yazoo County, authorities said.

Deputies quickly located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled, leading deputies on a pursuit.

During the chase, the driver turned onto the grounds of a correctional facility in Yazoo County, where authorities say she struck two patrol vehicles while continuing to try to evade deputies.

The collisions eventually disabled the suspect’s vehicle, and deputies took the driver into custody at the scene.

Authorities said neither of the deputies involved was injured, and the driver was also not injured.

Additional details, including the driver’s identity and potential charges, were not immediately released.
