GULFPORT — Volunteers are invited to help plant trees Thursday at a Gulfport park as part of a community service event celebrating the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
The City of Gulfport and the Green Infrastructure Center are hosting a Tree Planting Day at Brickyard Bayou Park, where volunteers will work to expand the city’s tree canopy and support environmental improvements.
Organizers say the event aims to promote a greener and healthier Gulfport while encouraging community members to participate in service projects tied to the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Volunteers will meet at the park’s trailhead at 3348 Johnson Drive. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by a brief training at 9 a.m. Tree planting is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Organizers say the project will help enhance green spaces in the area and benefit the community for years to come.
