SOUTHAVEN – Central MS Turtle Rescue is urgently seeking volunteers to help staff its northern facility in Southaven, warning that the location could close without additional help.

The rescue organization said it currently has no volunteers at the Southaven facility and needs at least one person who can commit to working two to three hours on a regular day each week.

Officials said the role requires a long-term commitment and is not intended for occasional volunteers or short-term summer help.

Volunteer duties include cleaning turtle enclosures and providing food and water for the animals. The work is done indoors and in air-conditioned conditions, according to the organization.

Central MS Turtle Rescue said having two or three volunteers would be ideal, but at least one regular volunteer is needed to keep the facility operating during the busy spring and summer months.

Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to contact the organization to learn more about the opportunity.
