Jackson County Deputy injured in crash while responding to call

JACKSON COUNTY – A deputy was injured Friday afternoon in a crash involving a Jackson County Sheriff’s Department patrol vehicle, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

The crash happened March 6 at approximately 3:37 p.m. on Old Fort Bayou Road.

Authorities said deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department were responding to a call for service with lights and sirens activated when one of the patrol vehicles collided with a Hyundai Santa Fe that was entering Old Fort Bayou Road from Rose Farm Road.

The deputy was transported to a local hospital with injuries. The driver of the Hyundai Santa Fe was not injured, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
