NEWTON – A traffic stop for a noise ordinance violation late Friday night led to multiple charges against a Newton man, according to the Newton Police Department.
Police said officers conducted a traffic stop during the late hours of Feb. 28 in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive for a violation of the City of Newton’s noise ordinance.
Following the stop, the driver was identified as Richard Russell. Authorities said Russell has been charged with violating the city’s noise ordinance, driving with a suspended license, no insurance and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
“The Newton Police Department will continue to enforce the city’s ordinances and state laws no matter how big or small they are,” Chief McKenzie Patrick said in a statement.
No additional details were released.
