MADISON — Two Jackson men have been arrested and charged in connection with a series of vehicle burglaries reported across Madison, and authorities are searching for a third suspect.
The Madison Police Department said officers responded Thursday, Feb. 19, to reports of multiple auto burglaries throughout the city.
Investigators quickly developed leads that led them to Jackson, where a vehicle of interest was located on Maria Drive. With assistance from the Mississippi Capitol Police and the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department, authorities arrested 25-year-old Willie Deonta Thomas and 23-year-old Harold Stiff, both of Jackson.
Police said evidence connected to the burglaries was recovered during the investigation.
Both men have been charged with eight counts of auto burglary. Additional charges are possible.
Authorities also issued a warrant for Christian B. Stiff of Jackson on eight counts of auto burglary and are seeking information that could lead to his arrest.
During the investigation, officers determined Thomas was on parole from the Mississippi Department of Corrections at the time of his arrest. Investigators also said Harold Stiff is currently out on bond in Hinds County on an aggravated assault charge.
The suspects are scheduled for an initial appearance in City of Madison Municipal Court. The case will be forwarded to District Attorney Bubba Bramlett for prosecution.
