Officers with the Jackson Police Department’s Precinct 1 were dispatched at approximately 12:30 a.m. to the Chapel Ridge Apartments in the 1600 block of Raymond Road in reference to a deceased individual.
When officers arrived, they located an adult male lying on the ground in the parking lot. Detectives with the department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit, the Mobile Crime Unit and the Hinds County coroner were called to the scene.
Investigators determined the man had suffered at least one, and possibly multiple, gunshot wounds and had died from his injuries.
Authorities said the victim has been identified but his name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Police have not released information about a possible motive or suspect. The investigation remains ongoing.
