JACKSON — Jackson police are asking for the public’s help identifying two men accused of attempting to steal AT&T copper cable and causing thousands of dollars in damage.
According to police, the incident happened around 8 a.m. Feb. 11 in the area of 108 Woody Drive. Investigators said two unknown males attempted to steal copper cable wiring before citizens in the neighborhood interrupted the theft. One of the suspects appeared to be white, police said.
Authorities said the suspects were seen driving a late-model gray or silver Ford Expedition. Police also referenced a previously recorded social media video dated Feb. 11 that allegedly shows occupants using a rope device attached to utility pole cable wiring and a Ford Expedition before driving away.
Investigators said the suspects caused several thousand dollars in damage while taking several hundred yards of cable wiring.
Police are asking anyone who can identify the owner or operator of the vehicle shown in photos and video to call the Jackson Police Department at 601-960-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477). Police said tips that lead to an arrest could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,500.
In the same notice, police also asked for information regarding the whereabouts of Lucious Abney.
