PEARL — A man was taken into custody Thursday after a domestic assault call led to a barricade situation on Oak Park Drive, according to the Pearl Police Department.
Police said officers responded Feb. 12, 2026, to a report of domestic assault and determined that Ray Stewart had assaulted a female victim.

Source: Pearl PDAccording to the police chief, Stewart then barricaded himself inside the home and refused officers’ commands.
During the investigation, officers learned Stewart had an extensive criminal history, including a prior violent conviction, and was allegedly in possession of multiple firearms despite being a convicted felon.
Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Stewart and a search warrant for the residence. The Pearl Police Department SWAT team was activated during the standoff.
After several hours of negotiations, SWAT officers used a kinetic breach to access the rear of the home, and Stewart later exited the residence, police said. Officers used a less-than-lethal device to take him into custody.
A search of the home resulted in the seizure of more than 10 firearms, according to police.
Stewart was taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation. Police said he will be booked upon release and charged with aggravated domestic violence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
