The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office is investigating suspicious activity at the Hinds County Circuit Courthouse and Chancery Courthouse in downtown Jackson, according to Sheriff Jones.
Authorities said an unknown male left suspicious notes on doors at both courthouses and spray-painted the doors. Investigators also reported related vandalism at other downtown locations.
Both courthouse locations have been secured, and alternate entrances will be used until the matter is resolved, according to the sheriff’s office.
Officials said federal law enforcement partners have been notified, and Capitol Police is assisting with the investigation.
Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is asked to contact law enforcement.
