FRANKLIN COUNTY — An 80-year-old Louisiana man was killed and two others were injured Monday night in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 84, the Mississippi Highway Patrol said.
The wreck occurred about 7:20 p.m. on Highway 84 West in Franklin County.
Investigators said a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Elmer Wallace Jr., 80, of Vidalia, Louisiana, was traveling west on Highway 84 when it collided with a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado. The Silverado, driven by 36-year-old Joshua Slayton of Gonzales, Louisiana, was traveling north on Highway 33 and crossing Highway 84 at the time of the crash.
Wallace received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
A passenger in the Tahoe, 79-year-old Brenda Wallace of Vidalia, and Slayton were both transported to a local hospital with injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
