MADISON — Madison Station Elementary School was closed Thursday after a second threat in as many days was reported at the campus, officials said.

Madison Police Lt. Micah Taylor said the threat was received early Thursday morning, before classes began.

Some buses had already arrived at the school to drop off students, but no children had exited the buses when the decision was made to divert them to another location.

Out of an abundance of caution, the campus is not receiving students, and officials say they anticipate the school will remain closed for the entire day.

Lt. Taylor said the department is investigating the threat in coordination with state and federal law enforcement partners.

The closure comes one day after the school was evacuated and shut down Wednesday following a separate bomb threat that prompted a law enforcement response and relocation of students.
