CANTON — A Madison County man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine, prosecutors announced.
District Attorney Bubba Bramlett said Kenderius Marquise Bess, 32, pleaded guilty in Madison County Circuit Court to two counts of trafficking methamphetamine. He was sentenced to serve 15 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections without the possibility of parole or early release.
According to Bramlett, the case stemmed from an investigation by the Gluckstadt Police Department in April and May 2025. Working with a confidential informant, officers conducted multiple controlled drug purchases from Bess.
On one occasion, Bess sold the informant 2,000 dosage units of methamphetamine, prosecutors said. During another transaction, he sold 5,000 methamphetamine pills.
Authorities later stopped Bess for a traffic violation. After he consented to a search of his vehicle, officers found more than 11,000 methamphetamine pills in the trunk, Bramlett said.
“Gluckstadt Police Department did an incredible job getting over 18,000 dosage units of methamphetamine off the streets,” Bramlett said in a statement. “Mr. Bess was selling large volumes of dangerous controlled substances with no regard to who could get hurt. And because of that, he will spend every day of the next 15 years in prison.”
Bramlett added, “We do not tolerate drug dealers in Madison and Rankin counties.”
