LAFAYETTE COUNTY — The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office said a suspect in two separate arson incidents was taken into custody after authorities issued a public alert in the Highway 30 East area.
The sheriff’s office initially asked residents near County Road 251 to be on the lookout for Alexander Kent, who authorities said was believed to be experiencing a mental health crisis and was a suspect in two arson cases. No injuries were reported in either incident.
Residents were urged to stay indoors, lock their vehicles and call 911 if they saw anything suspicious. The sheriff’s office later updated the alert and said the subject was in custody.
