STARKVILLE – Police are searching for a 19-year-old suspect after shots were fired Sunday morning at a Sonic Drive-In in Starkville.
Officers with the Starkville Police Department responded around 10:47 a.m. on Jan. 18 to a report of gunfire at the Sonic Drive-In located at 913 Highway 12 West. Investigators determined a firearm was discharged during an altercation between individuals who are known to each other.
No injuries were reported, police said, but a vehicle was struck by gunfire. Authorities emphasized that discharging a firearm at another person is a serious criminal offense, regardless of whether anyone is injured.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for Jakobe George, 19, of Sturgis, who is currently being sought by law enforcement.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the Starkville Police Department SWAT team executed multiple search warrants at several locations. Several persons of interest, ranging in age from 16 to 19, are currently in custody, police said. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
