MADISON COUNTY — A Brookhaven man was killed Friday night in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 49 in Madison County, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened about 8:10 p.m. Jan. 16 near Petrified Forest Road. A 2007 Toyota Camry driven by 41-year-old Joey Quarles of Brookhaven was traveling north when it hydroplaned, struck a 2020 Honda CR-V and then ran off the roadway, colliding with a tree.
Quarles suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
The Honda CR-V was driven by 32-year-old Shequita Young of Yazoo City. Two passengers, 32-year-old Frank Moore and a minor child, also of Yazoo City, were in the vehicle. None of the occupants of the Honda were injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
