JACKSON — Jackson Public Schools has been named the 2025-2026 Richard M. Robinson Literacy Champion by Scholastic and the Council of the Great City Schools, the district announced.
As part of the recognition, Shirley Elementary will receive a full library makeover and more than 6,000 new books, according to the district. JPS also said every student will receive a 10-book summer pack to keep and read.
The district said students will also have 24/7 access to thousands of digital books through Scholastic Literacy Pro.
JPS officials said the honor recognizes progress in reading across the district and highlights the work being done in classrooms each day to strengthen literacy.
