JACKSON – According to Jackson Fire Chief Charles Felton, Thursday night around 11:30 p.m. units were called to 1242 Westhaven Drive in reference to a house fire.
When they arrived, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the home.
While in the process of putting out the fire, firefighters found the body of an unknown male.
Fire units requested a fire investigator to respond to the location after the body was found.
Chief Felton said the body was taken by the Hinds County Coroner’s Office to have an autopsy performed.
At this time, the fire is still under investigation. There were no other reported injuries.
The fire chief added that on January 13, firefighters responded to this same structure and found a person inside without permanent housing. There was smoke coming from the structure at this time.
