VICKSBURG – The Vicksburg Police Department provided an update Thursday on two separate shooting incidents that occurred Tuesday, Jan. 13, including multiple arrests and the surrender of a suspect.
Police said a drive-by shooting was reported at about 2:10 p.m. in the 2900 block of Washington Street. One person was injured and taken to a hospital in stable condition.
The following individuals were arrested Wednesday, Jan. 14, in connection with that incident, police said: Jayden Elmore, 18; Jacques Galloway, 23; Lavondre Gailmore, 21; and Arkeem Banks, 18.
Later that day, at about 6:48 p.m., police said a shooting occurred at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Cherry Street involving a 16-year-old victim. The victim was transported to a hospital by private vehicle and was reported to be in stable condition.
Police said Sedrick Lewis, 40, turned himself in to the Vicksburg Police Department on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
Both incidents remain under investigation, police said, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
