The Jackson Police Department is warning motorists that illegal street racing and drag racing on public roadways is prohibited and may result in arrest or citations.
In a public safety message, police said the department takes reports of drag racing seriously and emphasized that racing on public streets is banned under City of Jackson ordinances and Mississippi law, including Mississippi Statute 63-3-1215.
Police said anyone found participating in or facilitating illegal drag racing may face arrest, citations and penalties as prescribed by law.
The department urged motorists to drive responsibly and prioritize public safety. Anyone who witnesses drag racing or reckless driving is asked to report it immediately by calling 911.
Jackson police said the department remains committed to maintaining roadway safety and appreciated the public’s cooperation.
