COLUMBUS — Three people were arrested after a shot was fired into a house Saturday night following a disturbance in the 200 block of Hobbs Sheffield Road, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the call at about 8:53 p.m. on Jan. 10 and spoke with occupants of the home, who reported that 19-year-old Jaylin Shelton, 18-year-old Andrea Thornton and 18-year-old Jeremiah Brewer came to the residence, the sheriff’s office said.
According to investigators, Shelton became involved in a physical altercation with the homeowner in the front yard. Authorities said the incident was captured on the home’s surveillance camera.
While the fight was taking place, Brewer turned a vehicle around in the yard, officials said. After the two men separated, Shelton ran back toward the vehicle, and Brewer got out and fired one round from a 9mm handgun into the residence, the sheriff’s office said. The bullet traveled through a window and a wall before coming to rest in the back portion of the home.
No injuries were reported.
Brewer was arrested and charged with shooting into a dwelling house, authorities said. Shelton and Thornton were arrested and charged as accessories to shooting into a dwelling house.
All three were being held at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center and were awaiting their initial court appearance, the sheriff’s office said.
