MADISON COUNTY — A Pearl man was killed and a passenger was airlifted for treatment following a two-vehicle crash involving a log truck Monday afternoon on Mississippi 16.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded about 5:54 p.m. Jan. 12 to the crash on MS-16 near Sharon Road in Madison County.
Troopers said a 2000 Volvo log truck driven by 19-year-old Jaden Powell of Lexington was traveling south and attempted to turn west onto MS-16 when it collided with a 2002 Ford F-250 traveling east. The pickup was driven by 73-year-old Jimmie Keathen, with 66-year-old Gloria Keathen riding as a passenger. Both were from Pearl.
Powell was not injured, MHP said. Gloria Keathen was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Her injuries were not immediately known, troopers said.
Jimmie Keathen suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
