RANKIN COUNTY — A man was arrested early Monday after investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in Rankin County in connection with an alleged sexual assault, authorities said.
Investigators with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department served the search warrant before daybreak at a home in the Cedar Ridge neighborhood off Highway 468 near Pearl. The warrant stemmed from an investigation into the reported sexual assault of a female at the residence, officials said.
During the search, deputies arrested Elijah Lavarius Haynes Jr. on a sexual assault charge. He was taken to the Rankin County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held on a $100,000 bond.
The bond was set by Rankin County Court Judge David Morrow Jr. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details were not immediately released.
