YAZOO COUNTY — One person was killed Thursday afternoon in a crash involving a school bus and a passenger vehicle in Yazoo County, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred about 3:25 p.m. on U.S. Highway 49 North near Mississippi Highway 433. A Yazoo County School District bus was traveling westbound on MS-433 through the intersection when it collided with a 2017 GMC traveling northbound on U.S. 49.
The school bus was driven by 52-year-old Latrice Richardson of Yazoo and was occupied by two minor passengers, authorities said. Neither Richardson nor the children were injured.
The GMC was driven by 63-year-old Philip Williams of Yazoo City, who sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
