FLOWOOD — Mississippi Blood Services is honoring National Law Enforcement Day by offering special incentives to officers who donate blood Friday at its Flowood Center.
Law enforcement officials who donate between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the center on Lakeland Drive will receive a Starbucks gift card and free donuts as a thank-you for their service, officials said.
“We know law enforcement plays a critical role in keeping our communities safe and often see firsthand how accidents can impact families,” said Kasey Dickson, director of public relations and donor services for Mississippi Blood Services. “They know through such tragedies how vital the need for blood is. We want to recognize them with a sweet treat and pick-me-up while they help patients in need by donating blood.”
Mississippi Blood Services said donations typically decline in the weeks following the holidays, even as the need for blood remains constant. Trauma patients, surgical patients and people battling life-threatening illnesses rely on a steady blood supply, the organization said.
