JACKSON — Mission Mississippi will host its 10th annual Mississippi Legislative Prayer Breakfast on Jan. 14, bringing together lawmakers, civic leaders, and members of the Christian community for a morning focused on prayer and unity.
The event is scheduled for 8 a.m. at First Baptist Church Jackson, 431 N. State St., in Fellowship Hall East. Organizers say the breakfast is intended to encourage prayer as “the first and most important tool” for the flourishing of Mississippi, particularly as the state enters a new legislative year.
“This year we are issuing a specific challenge: to recognize prayer as the first and most important tool for the flourishing of Mississippi,” Mission Mississippi President Brian Crawford said in an email invitation. “We take our call to pray for our legislative leaders with the utmost seriousness.”
Crawford said the gathering is designed to offer encouragement to state legislators and other civic leaders by surrounding them with prayer and support during the 2026 legislative session.
Mission Mississippi described the breakfast as a nonpartisan event that brings together Christians from various denominations and congregations across the state. Organizers say the goal is to model unity amid what they describe as growing social, political and cultural divisions.
“This is an urgent moment in our state and country,” the organization said on its website. “We can in fact do more than pray, but we must never do less.”
The breakfast is free to attend, thanks to sponsorships, but seating is limited and advance registration is required. Participants can register online or by contacting Mission Mississippi’s office.
Mission Mississippi is a Jackson-based nonprofit organization focused on fostering unity across racial, denominational and socioeconomic lines through prayer, relationships and collaborative service.
