JACKSON — Seventeen Yorkshire terriers and Yorkie mixes are now in the care of the Mississippi Animal Rescue League after being found inside a home connected to an active death investigation, according to MARL.
Jackson Animal Control contacted MARL for assistance after the dogs were discovered living in severe neglect inside the residence, according to the rescue group. All 17 were transferred to MARL so they can receive medical attention and proper care.
MARL said most of the dogs arrived heavily matted, with several suffering from urine-soaked mats, skin irritation and overgrown nails that made it difficult for them to walk. The organization said the dogs will be available as they are each cleared for adoption. They will receive vetting and get any medical needs met before being placed for adoption.

Source: MARLAccording to MARL, each dog will need medicated baths, flea and tick treatment, vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, safe housing, food and daily care as they recover from trauma.
The organization is asking the public to help cover the rising cost of care. Donations can be made at www.msarl.org/donate or via Venmo at @marlshelter, MARL said.
