LEE COUNTY — The Lee County Sheriff’s Department detained three adults and a juvenile late Saturday after a series of malicious mischief incidents were reported in the Palmetto community, authorities said.
Deputies responded on the night of Dec. 27 to multiple calls reporting destroyed mailboxes, damaged structures and vandalized vehicles. During the investigation, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle and recovered evidence linking the occupants to the reported crimes, the department said.
Three 18-year-olds were taken to the Lee County Adult Detention Center and charged with multiple counts of misdemeanor malicious mischief. A juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center, charged with one count of malicious mischief and referred to Lee County Youth Court.
The sheriff’s department said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
