Dozens of children across Hinds County got an early Christmas surprise this week as the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office hosted its annual bike giveaway, partnering with local schools, a church and area businesses to deliver new bicycles to families.
Sheriff Tyree Jones joined representatives from Walmart and Gray-Daniels Ford for the 5th Annual Hinds County Christmas Bike Giveaway at Cade Chapel M.B. Church in Jackson. The event was held in partnership with Cade Chapel M.B. Church and Walton Elementary School.
Organizers said the giveaway is designed to spread holiday cheer while strengthening relationships between families and local leaders. With support from sponsors including Cadence Bank, the Gray-Daniels Automotive Group of Brandon and Walmart, children from across Hinds County received brand-new bicycles ahead of Christmas.
Jones also recognized volunteers and Hinds County Sheriff’s Office staff for helping make the event possible, thanking them for their time and service.
The sheriff’s office said the bike giveaway has become a yearly tradition focused on community support, joy and creating lasting memories for local children and their families.
