Two Arrested, One Wanted After Robbery Investigation in Newton

NEWTON — Newton police have made arrests and are searching for a suspect following an alleged robbery that left one person injured late Monday night, authorities said.

According to the Newton Police Department, officers were dispatched around 10:25 p.m. on Dec. 15, 2025, to a reported robbery in the 300 block of East First Street.

When officers arrived, one victim was transported by ambulance to Rush Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

Following an investigation, police arrested Justin T. Body Jr. and Chaqwitta Wingo, both of Newton, charging them with accessory after the fact. Authorities said both are awaiting their initial court appearances.

Police are still searching for Sedarian Jones, also of Newton, who is wanted on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault. Jones remains at large.

Authorities also said two juveniles were involved in the incident. Their names were not released because they will be processed through juvenile court.

In a statement, Chief McKenzie Patrick warned that police are actively pursuing individuals involved in criminal activity in the city.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
