BOONEVILLE – A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in connection with a 2023 homicide in Prentiss County, prosecutors said.
The First Circuit District Attorney’s Office said Cameron Jaquavious Young pleaded guilty Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, to second-degree murder in the April 7, 2023, death of Justin Jamal Anderson.
Senior Circuit Court Judge Paul S. Funderburk accepted the plea and sentenced Young to 20 years to serve, with an additional 20 years suspended, and five years of post-release supervision, according to the district attorney’s office. Prosecutors said the sentence is “day-for-day,” meaning Young is not eligible for parole.
The Booneville Police Department responded to and investigated the case, the district attorney’s office said. Prosecutors also credited lead investigator Corie Gann Robbins and the Booneville Police Department for their work that led to the case’s resolution.
Assistant District Attorneys Joel Baldwin and Kyle Robbins prosecuted the case for the state, the release said.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
