PRENTISS COUNTY — A traffic stop in Prentiss County led to the arrest of a Booneville man after authorities said he was later found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

Source: Prentiss County SOAccording to the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Ethan Hester stopped a vehicle on Dec. 11, 2025, for improper equipment. The driver, Christopher Yates, 44, of Booneville, was arrested on multiple misdemeanor charges, authorities said.
During the course of the investigation, Yates was later found to be in possession of methamphetamine, officials said. Prentiss County Judge Ray Hall set Yates’ circuit bond at $5,000.
North Mississippi Narcotics Agent Grady Smith is expected to present the case to the next grand jury.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
