There is a man in Rankin County named John who has an incredible way of serving the community. He said it’s his calling from God, and it has already made a huge difference in many people’s lives.
He said the endeavor started out small and privately, but he has since felt called to expand this and serve more people in the community.
John has been in the fire service for over 20 years and worked on an ambulance for about 7 years. He said that public service has always been a part of his life, and he knows a lot of friends who also work in this field.
John shared a powerful story from about 12 years ago. Here is what he shared,
“About 12 years ago, while on duty, we helped a person that was injured while trimming shrubs. Later that day, God said to me, “Go finish the job.” I got some of the guys at the firehouse, and the next morning I loaded everything up and we finished the job. Only the homeowner (who was healing from injuries the day prior) and us knew what we did. From that day forward I’ve been secretly helping folks thoughout the years who need it the most. God has blessed me an incredible business, people that help me, and equipment to do all sorts of jobs.”
John owns a business called “Clear Creek Property and Land Solutions“.
A couple of years ago, John said he felt the Lord tell him he had a special job for him. After seeing how God used him in that person’s life who was injured while trimming shrubs, John decided to offer a service through his business where he cuts overgrown and out-of-control yards for those who aren’t physically able to. He realized there is a need for that in the community, and this was a way he could tangibly show Jesus’ love to others.
John took his team and began cleaning up yards for people who are elderly, disabled, sick, had cancer, or were injured in some way. He did this service absolutely free.
The first Friday of each month, John allotted time in his busy work schedule and took his business and his resources to give back.
“Not knowing how I was going to pull this off, I simply trusted the Lord of his vision to be a servant to his people.”
This season, John shared that his team was able to help 22 individuals or families with overgrown yards across the southwest area of Rankin County. Those areas included Star, Florence, Richland, and Monerey.
“It’s been a truly humbling experience that I cannot even comprehend.”
John decided that he and his team will be continuing his service beginning April 2026 but wants to include Pearl and Brandon (042) residents.

John asked that people only request the free service if they desperately need the help. He said the only thing he requests is that people pay it forward in their own lives where they can.
John shared this powerful verse from John 12:26. It says,
“Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.”
