Picayune Walmart Evacuated After Bomb Threat and Report of Man With Rifle

The Picayune Police Department says the Walmart in Picayune was evacuated Tuesday night after a bomb threat and a report of a man with a rifle, but no suspicious items were found during a search of the store.

According to the department, around 10:30 p.m. on December 2, 2025, Dispatch received a call reporting a bomb threat at Walmart. Shortly afterward, a second call came in reporting a man with a rifle at the same location.

Officers immediately responded to the scene. Dispatch then received information that talk about the threats had originated in an online chat room.

As a precaution, the store was immediately evacuated, and officers began searching the building for anything suspicious.

Police say the store was cleared at about 1:30 a.m., and nothing suspicious was located. No injuries were reported.

The incident remains under investigation, and the Picayune Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact Dispatch at 601-749-5482.
