Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with a drive-by shooting on Interstate 10 that left one person critically injured, according to the Gulfport Police Department.
On December 1, 2025, officers arrested 23-year-old Elijah Amari Young of Long Beach and 18-year-old Zykendrick Zayveyon Harper of Gulfport. Both have been charged with two counts of drive-by shooting.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on November 30, 2025, around 4:50 a.m. Gulfport officers responded to I-10 near mile marker 34 for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Investigators learned that Young and Harper had reportedly been involved in a physical altercation with the victim at a club earlier that morning. Police say Harper, acting on Young’s instructions, followed the victim’s vehicle onto I-10, where Young allegedly fired multiple shots into the vehicle, striking the victim.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition.
Young and Harper were booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where they are each being held on a $1,000,000 bond.
