The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help as investigators work to combat a sharp increase in AT&T wire theft across the county.
Officials say the entire county, including areas inside city limits, has seen a rise in line interruptions caused by thieves damaging and stealing communication lines. These thefts can disrupt internet and home phone service for homes and businesses, often late at night.
Residents are urged to stay alert and call 911 immediately if they see anything suspicious. Examples include:

A truck parked on the side of the road at night with a ladder

A person walking alone late at night in a rural area near utility lines

Sudden loss of internet or home phone service, especially after 11 p.m.
The sheriff’s office is also encouraging parents to ask children to speak up if they notice service interruptions during late-night hours.
“Together we can make a difference,” the sheriff’s office said, asking neighbors to look out for one another and report anything that does not look right.
Anyone who notices suspicious activity related to utility lines should call 911 right away.
