Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten has announced the arrests of two inmates accused of tampering with a state’s witness in an ongoing homicide trial.
According to the sheriff, the incident happened on November 20, 2025, around 10 a.m. while a state’s witness was at the Adams County Courthouse awaiting testimony in the Myrtle Drive homicide case. During that time, information surfaced about an encounter that had taken place inside the Adams County Jail.
Sheriff Patten said that during a routine transition period — when several inmates, state’s witnesses and newly arrested individuals were being moved — inmates Tyrell “Tydi” White and Frederick “Baby Freddie” Hauer came into contact with the state’s witness. The two allegedly attempted to convince the witness not to testify in the Myrtle Drive homicide trial.
A Major and a Sergeant with the sheriff’s office reviewed the jail’s surveillance video after the report. The footage confirmed that White and Hauer approached the witness and tried to influence or discourage testimony related to defendants Emmanuel Hill/Hall, Jadarrius McKnight and Jamarion Perkins, according to authorities.
Based on the evidence, both men were charged with Tampering With a Witness.
White, who was already in custody on an unrelated charge, was formally charged while in jail. A warrant was issued for Hauer, and on November 21, 2025, he was taken into custody by a Mississippi Department of Corrections agent and transported to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, where he was booked on the same charge.
Both suspects are currently being held without bond.
Sheriff Patten stated,
“Any attempt to intimidate or influence a witness threatens the integrity of our justice system and will be met with swift, decisive action,” Sheriff Patten said in a statement. “We will continue to ensure that every individual can participate in the judicial process safely and without fear.”
The investigation is ongoing, and officials say additional charges are possible.
