A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death on the front porch of a home on Gault Street early Monday morning.
According to Jackson Police Chief Tyree Jones, officers were called to the address around 8:27 a.m.
The victim, 49-year-old Andrew Knight Jr., appeared to have been running from someone, and ran towards the home after he was shot. Chief Jones said it appears that he collapsed on the front porch after he was shot.
Knight was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Several witnesses are being interviewed about the incident. Chief Jones said that there is no suspect information or motive at this time.
It does appear that Knight was shot with a hand gun, however, the gun has not yet been found.
This is the Capital City’s 56th homicide for 2025.
