ISSAQUENA COUNTY — The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a one-vehicle crash on U.S. 61 North near Reischer Road early Wednesday.
The crash occurred at about 3:17 a.m. A 2007 Toyota Sequoia driven by Demond Qualls, 24, of Greenville, was traveling southbound when it left the roadway, overturned and landed in a ditch.
Passengers in the vehicle were identified as Thomas Mitchell, 24, of Vicksburg; Kevin Lawrence, 23, of Vicksburg; and Louis Qualls, 58, of Vicksburg.
Demond Qualls and Mitchell were taken to Merit Health in Vicksburg with injuries that were not immediately known. Lawrence was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson with injuries that also remain unknown.
Louis Qualls sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
