The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department says a months-long investigation culminated this week in additional charges against Richard D. Dossett after deputies recovered a stolen tractor and a stolen Can-Am UTV from his property.

According to investigators, the case began in March 2025 with an inquiry into a series of brush fires near South Valley Road. That investigation led to the earlier arrest of Dossett, who resides at 789 South Valley Road, on arson and trespassing charges.

On November 12, 2025, sheriff’s investigators, working with officers from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, executed a search warrant at the South Valley Road residence. During the search, deputies located a tractor reported stolen earlier this year and also recovered a stolen Can-Am UTV.

Following the search and subsequent interviews, Dossett was charged with Grand Larceny and Felony Taking of a Motor Vehicle in connection with the stolen property. Additional details were not immediately released.

The Sheriff’s Office thanked the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks and Pearl River County Fire Marshal Jonathan Head for their assistance in the investigation.
