JACKSON – The Jackson Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred Sunday in the 1700 block of Dorgan Street.
Detectives said the victim, identified as 32-year-old James Dotson Jr., was shot at the location and pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been notified.
Sheriff Tyree Jones said that Dotson was a Sergeant for the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office. He worked at the Raymond Detention Center.
He was off duty at the time of the shooting.
