Leon LambertGEORGE COUNTY — A 67-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison Thursday for the 2023 killing of his wife, court records show.
Leon E. Lambert III was convicted of first-degree murder in George County Circuit Court for the death of Pamela Lambert, authorities announced Thursday evening.
According to the George County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded in August 2023 to a residence on Ashton Drive in the Ward community following a call for assistance. They found Pamela Lambert deceased, and a short time later Leon Lambert surrendered to investigators.
During the sentencing announcement, George County Sheriff Mitchell Mixon thanked District Attorney Angel McIlrath, her prosecution team, the courts, jurors and investigators for their work in bringing the lengthy investigation to a close.
A statement from Mixon added, “This is why we do this job — to stand for justice, protect victims and bring closure to those who have suffered unimaginable loss.”
