SARDIS — A 47-year-old man was found dead Thursday after deputies responded to a report of an assault in progress at a residence on Butler Road in Panola County, authorities said.
According to the Panola County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at the scene on Oct. 24 and found Michael Wayne Ford, 47, dead in the driveway.
Information given to Panola E-911 Call Center dispatchers indicated that the suspected attacker was Ford’s son, 24-year-old Jamichael Ford.
Deputies encountered Jamichael Ford as he was leaving the residence and took him into custody without incident, officials said.
He was transported to the Panola County Detention Center, where he was charged with first-degree murder.
The investigation remains ongoing.
