One person is dead following a Friday night shooting at a residence in the 4600 block of Manning Street near 46th Avenue, according to the Meridian Police Department.
Assistant Chief Dareall Thompson said officers responded to the scene where a female victim was found and taken to a local hospital. She was later pronounced dead.
Thompson said a man turned himself in to police and told investigators he had shot his grandmother. The suspect is now in custody.
Investigators are working to confirm all details of the suspect’s statement. Thompson said the department’s thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family.
“This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public,” Thompson said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
