The Kemper County Sheriff’s Office announced on its Facebook page that deputies made more than a dozen arrests and issued dozens of traffic citations during enhanced patrol operations over Homecoming weekend.
According to the department, deputies conducted increased patrols and enforcement details throughout the county to maintain public safety during local celebrations and events. The proactive operation led to several significant enforcement actions, including five felony drug charges, one felony firearm charge, and the removal of three impaired drivers from county roadways.
In total, deputies made 13 arrests and issued more than 50 traffic citations over the weekend.
Among those arrested and charged with felony offenses were:
- Cleo Patrick McCallebb — Sale of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) [Bond: $100,000]; Sale of Controlled Substance (Crack Cocaine) [Bond: $100,000]; Sale of Controlled Substance (Marijuana) [Bond: $100,000]
- James Alfanso Rush — Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) [Bond: $25,000]; Felon in Possession of a Firearm [Bond: $50,000]; Careless Driving; No Seatbelt
- Thomas James Coleman — Sale of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) [Bond: $100,000]; No Tag; No Proof of Liability Insurance
Sheriff James R. Moore commended deputies for their continued dedication and professionalism in keeping Kemper County communities safe.
The department said similar enforcement efforts will continue throughout the year to deter criminal activity and promote roadway safety.
