Tupelo police are investigating a Tuesday evening shooting at Tupelo Creek Trailer Park on Shelton Drive that left one man wounded and another in custody.
Officers responded around 5:50 p.m. on Oct. 14, 2025, to reports of shots fired and found an adult male with a gunshot wound to the arm. Officers provided first aid before the victim was taken by ambulance to North Mississippi Medical Center.
Investigators determined two men exchanged gunfire following an altercation at a residence. Detectives and the Special Operations Group processed the scene and recovered multiple firearms and shell casings.
30-year-old Omarious Mitchell, of Tupelo, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He is being held without bond following an initial appearance before Judge Willie Allen. Police said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges or arrests may be made.
