A routine traffic stop Sunday evening on Highway 26 near Poplarville resulted in the arrest of a Louisiana man on narcotics-related charges, according to the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said that around 7:02 p.m. on Oct. 12, 2025, Deputy Malley Bilbo stopped a red Chevrolet Equinox with a Louisiana tag for speeding. The driver, identified as Brandon Jumonville, 43, of Denham Springs, La., was found to have a suspended driver’s license.
During the encounter, the deputy reported seeing suspected drug paraphernalia in plain view. A subsequent search recovered a clear container with a substance consistent with methamphetamine (felony) and a glass pipe, officials said. The suspected narcotics were secured as evidence and will be sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for analysis.
Jumonville was transported to the Lenoir Rowell Criminal Justice Center and booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
Sheriff David Allison praised the deputy’s attentiveness, noting that proactive patrols often uncover larger issues. Major Donnie Saucier added that vigilance during traffic stops helps prevent harm before it reaches neighborhoods.
