46-year-old Lewis Shaun Cantrell pleaded guilty Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, to second-degree murder in the Jan. 13, 2024 killing of Jimmy Glenn Davis in Monroe County, according to the First Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
Circuit Court Judge Kelly Mims sentenced Cantrell to 40 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with 15 years suspended, leaving 25 years to serve day-for-day with no early release or parole.
Investigator Wayne Wilbanks of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office served as lead investigator. The Mississippi Highway Patrol assisted in Cantrell’s apprehension. Assistant District Attorney Paul Gault prosecuted the case.
District Attorney Jason D. Herring thanked Inv. Wilbanks, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and MHP for their work and dedication on the case.
