Nearly four years after his disappearance, authorities are still searching for clues in the case of a Sunflower County man who vanished under mysterious circumstances.
Decemius Strong, 28 at the time he went missing, was last seen on the morning of Jan. 22, 2022, after leaving his home around 7 a.m. Hunters later reported seeing him about two miles behind his residence, according to investigators. The odd part is that the hunters said he was naked.
Family members said they realized Strong was missing around 9:30 to 10 a.m. that morning. A Silver Alert was issued, and extensive searches were conducted, but no trace of him was found. Search efforts were called off on Jan. 29, 2022, and Strong has not been seen or heard from since.
Friends from high school told the local newspaper, the Enterprise-Tocsin, that Strong was a smart, selfless guy who had moved to Indianola from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 2010. He was loyal and funny, and according to one friend, never gave up on the basketball court.
At the time he went missing, Strong was 6 feet 2 inches tall and about 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a yellow skull cap, orange hoodie, black jacket, blue jeans, and black Timberland boots.
At one time some clothing were found during a search that the Enterprise-Tocsin reported were considered “articles of interest,” but Strong was not located in the area.
The case remains unsolved and under investigation by the Sunflower County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.
