The woman found dead Saturday, Sept. 13, on Interstate 20 eastbound near the I-59/I-20 split by the Meridian Regional Airport has been identified.
Lauderdale County Coroner Stella McMahan said the victim is Johanna Nieves-Velazquez, 52. McMahan said it appears she was struck by a vehicle.
McMahan said she received the call around 5:50 a.m. that morning.
Meridian Police Department Assistant Chief Dareall Thompson said the case remains under investigation.
